I like the approach of "Cut the crap this second or you'll have to leave. That would be sad b/c I'd really like having you here, but only if you behave." I bend down next to the kid's ear quietly and say it loud enough for just him to hear, but it's also so soft, it's sort of menacing. Then I later tell the parents what I've said. I haven't had a problem. Yet.
