I tried to create a poll but I have no clue how to do it!
1. Clean the house before you leave?
2. Clean the house when you come back?
3. What is cleaning the house?
4. Someone else cleans for me because I am so rich.

I clean the house before I leave, that way I come back to a lovely clean house. Cleaning involves mostly just tiddying up. Making sure the dishes are clean in the dishwasher, vaccumming, clean sheets, clean bathroom, etc. I've never paid to have my house cleaned, but I have succesfully encouraged it in guys I date that have a problem with cleanliness. The cost is well worth it!

There are few things worse to me than coming home from vacation to a messy house. I won't go into the details but Mr. Go now knows never to leave a house messy for me to come back to. That incident, and its subsequent fallout, gave rise to this phrase at Casa Go: If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.

Since most times we leave hubby home when we go on vacation (his choice, not mine), it's 1 and 2. We're working on #4.

I try to do 1. But lately it would be 3 if I actually was going anywhere and I'm not for like the next gazillion years. 
But I have a friend who is a neat freak to the max. She even cleans her closets before she goes on vacation just in case she goes down on the plane or something cuz she would die if her inlaws came and found a mess.

 according to Mrs. Boiler so the house is spotless before we leave. Granted 30 minutes after we get home the kids have trashed it.

Definitely #1.
If I don't have time to do #1 (I'm a bit OCD about it and it can take 4 hours to clean my medium sized house...or more  ) I always make sure I clean out the refrigerator and put the trash out.

We clean the house BEFORE we leave, that way we only have to clean up the clothes we messed up whhile on vacation.
I like to joke with the wife we're cleaning up the house so we can impress the burglars.
