The best thing you can do is to respect the fact that he made the decision and trust that he knows what is right for him.
Also, let him know you are there if he needs anything. Although he might not want or need to talk about it, like any emotional situation, it's still nice to know someone cares.
And very importantly, make time to hang out with him, too. He'll have exponentially more free time than he's used to and that will be awkward, uncomfortable, and potentially depressing.
