The Perfect Mile, by Neal Bascomb. The race (no pun intended) between three men - John Landy, Wes Santee, and Roger Bannister - to be the first to run the mile under four minutes (we know who won that contest).

I just finished The Five Quarters of and Orange. A rare foray into fiction for me. Very good. A few years old now.

I just started this.

Really interesting book, especially if you're dealing with adolescent girls. I read it a few years ago when I was teaching middle school.
