I had a discussion the other day with my friends. They think of us, runners as a sort of a cult at least. They think that we are a bunch of fanatics who have no brains or other motivation but just keep running until, one day we all drop dead from exhaustion. I keep telling them that there is more to it than that. What is the most inspiring race for you? I had quite a few of them and have hard time finding the words to explain the feeling I have at certain moments.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Don’t pay attention to those who think that the only form of entertainment is swallowing tons of beer and watching Super Bowl on TV. They will have hard time understanding the feeling of self accomplishment and “high” you get when you finish the good race. I had also quite a few inspiring moments during the racing. One of the most recent ones was a couple months ago in Arizona. We were facing extreme heat, enormous sweating and a number of other obstacles. Yet I felt like on top of the world (sounds familiar, doesn’t it?). I won the race and wouldn’t change the feeling for anything else in the world.
