Posted: 09/22/06 - 23:38 Post subject: What's your perfect night in (or out) ?
Mrs.P. and I were home last night. Quite unusual for us to both collide at the same time!
Both of us surprised, Mrs. P. keeping up her heavy social commitment/ me, on re-call /made other arrangements/any number of other things, that we spent a good two hours trying to work out what to do! (which lost most of the evening!)
In the end I cooked up some tiger prawns with some noodles and put Sam Cooke very loudly on the CD player. Opened some wine (Yalumba Hand picked shiraz viogner) and sat in back room eating our prawns and getting ever so slightly Quentin Quist while singing along with Sam Cooke ('You--oo--ooo--ooo send me, honest you do'-much better rendered after some wine), later on we moved on to Ella Fitzgerald but our renditions were so painful that we changed to Nina Simone!
It was one of the best evenings we've had for ages. So simple and yet so lovely. We decided afterwards that it was the most perfect evening we'd had for a very long time.
(What happened next is none of your business!)
So many times we've tried to arrange meals out, or going to the cinema etc. Very nice, but last night turned out to be better than all of those things. What was most annoying that we wasted so much time wondering what to do at the beginning! So, in order that I can have loads of beaut nights up my sleeve for the next time, what about you? What would be the perfect night for you? (bad musical tastes allowed since I've mentioned mine!)

it's got to be a really special place to go if it's gonna compete with staying home; sorry phar, i can't top your idea. only problem here is i have a teenager who would object to the music "TURN THAT STUPID STUFF OFF"

With our kids being so young, its tough to find the time for the perfect night in or out. We try to get sans the children once a month, mostly for dinner and/or a movie. A few hours of uninterrupted conversation, breaking up fights, etc is good for the soul

A Georgia Tech football game at Bobby Dodd Stadium. I get those joys 6 or 7 times each year. Then I return to my doldrums.

Sitting on a beach...at sunset...with a bottle of vino...then home.
Or sitting at home...enjoying a bottle of vino...just relaxing...kicking back with good tunes...sharing....talking...
Just time together. The rest seems to fall right into place when this happens. To me the best time evening in/out is when you can look your loved one in the eyes and just connect. That connection takes you to so many places, it doesn't matter where you're at at that time.

Together time. WTf is that? For the last many months DH is working like 4pm-3am. Add an hour on the road to and from work and he's coming to bed just as I'm getting up. Weekends he works another job at least 1 day if not 2. Our together time is about non-existent. Lately our together time has been him on the bike carrying water as I do my long run. This works great for 1 of us, not so much for the other.

Anytime I can actually be with the wife ranks up there in my book as a perfect night. honestly I can't give a better answer than that.
