Posted: 09/07/06 - 19:33 Post subject: What's this national award crap?
High school kid comes to the door and blathers about having to talk to people to get a scholarship or whatever, and at some point they have to give you something, and I'm assuming you fill it out to prove that they talked to you (I don't know, I've never accepted it). Whatever the deal with it is, it just makes kids into some wiseasses with standardized comebacks. You can tell they use the same phrases on everyone. Today I got the second one in a week. Some fat white kid. He knocks on the door.
Kid -"Hi, I'm here for the party. Where should I put the keg?"
I look at him, wondering if he's stupid or just desperate.
Me -"over there in the corner."
K - naw, man, I'm just joking. I'm doing this blah blah blah blah, I have to talk to [number] friendly, non-violent people.
M - I think you've got the wrong guy.
K - why, are you going to beat me up?
M - no, because I'm not friendly.
K - if I win, they give me blah blah blah blah to help me with my career. Can you guess what I want to be?
*blank stare*
K - an underwear model
*blank stare*
K - Hah! no, really. A film director.
*blank stare*
Kid takes out the pamphlet thing and thrusts it forward...
K - so the thing is...
M - I don't want that.
K - You're not going to help me?
M - No.
K - Is it because I'm Chinese?
(he's not, haha! that's the joke! )
M - No, it's because I'm not friendly.
Kid walks away, head hung low. Glad I could teach him a lesson.
