Thorlo running socks are about the only thing I buy that is top of the line. I don't skimp on running shoes either but I'll still shop around for a deal. I worked hard for my money and like to keep as much of it as possible.

Daycare - we got lucky. Great place and one of the less expensive.
Beer & wine - I will gladly pay more for the good stuff, although I get everything at cost, so I still pay less than all of you suckers!
Shoes - running, dress, or casual, I will gladly pay double or more for comfort and lsting quality.

I work about once a month or so at a local store. The owner likes me, so that helps. All employees get cost. A $30 bottle of wine costs me about $16

Not all owners are like my boss though. I worked at a different store for 4+ years and didn't get any discount.

Would never work here in PA until the state allows the stores to be run privately.

I don't skimp on meat for my family. I try to buy organic, which means a 25 minute trip to the city every other week. When I can't do it, I feel bad.
I also spend the extra cash to get good seats to a big sporting event. I don't go that often, so if it's a team I like, I spend it. (The same goes with big running events!! ) Janice

No TP and only off-brand Q-tips.

So you draw the line at hair or skin products, or champagne, or wine, or shoes, or seafood, but you're not opposed to being skimpy with your clothes?
