It was definitely difficult. Even moreso that I had to survive it alone.
But the upside was Mr Aire coming home safely.

i couldn't agree more. i found this year to be extremely challenging for me for a bunch of little reasons that just didn't quit. i mean, i've had worse years as in i lost no one this year, no illnesses, who knows, maybe i'm just too old for this petty crap anymore.
i f'ing hated this year.

On a serious note, I think I had a pretty good year overall. Still have some health questions/concerns that remain unanswered, but I managed to be consistent with my cycling. Most importantly wife and children are healthy.

Well, my kids are an absolute joy most of the time.
I got back to running races and ran 4 5Ks this year.
I beat skin cancer twice and got down to seeing the dermatologist just twice a year instead of the four times it had been.
I met some nice people and learned I had a lot of support from a lot of people when I really needed it.
Had a great week at the beach.
If I can pull 5 things out of the suckiest year that ever sucked, I guess I'm doing fine.
In the next year, I hope to remember that it's little joys that matter. Like the fact that there's enough money to pay all the bills this month. Or watching a movie I really enjoy. Or how good it feels after sweating through a workout. Or learning some part of the law that really interests me. Or cooking something well enough that my children don't request a peanut butter sandwich after taking the required one bite. Little things that add up to a happy life.

Absolute best "thing" for 2005 is all the progress my younger son has made. Aside from his limited speaking and diet you would never know he's on the autistic spectrum. His socialization skills are almost normal, not at all characteristic for autism.
...and on a lighter note I weigh 7lbs less than I did on 1/1/05!
