Posted: 12/27/03 - 13:48 Post subject: What have you learned this YEAR?
Since yesterday was the last Friday of 2003 and it doesn't look like elkid was around to post the weekly lessons thread, I thought maybe this would be a good time to post the year's recap. Personally, academically, professionally, running and multisport wise, or whatever else you feel was significant, what did YOU learn in 2003? I'm still thinking about my response so I'll let y'all go first.......

I've spent a great deal of time pondering my answer to this question (at least 20 seconds). These are the three big things that I came away with in 2003:
1) That BamBam and I have a deep mental connection regarding our instinctive responses to threads that discuss the amount of knowledge acquired by individuals over a specified period of time.
2) Never trust a big butt and a smile
3) Desitin has many uses

I refuse to answer this thread until I have had time to imbibe some adult beverages!

It’s been a very bizarre year.
1) Things and people are not always what they seem to be (I knew this but apparently still refuse to accept it). Throw first impressions out like dirty Kleenex.
2) South Florida real estate prices are insane.
3) Never say "never" to something; you'll end up owing someone $20.00.
4) I am privileged to have some pretty amazing friends.
5) Moving 1500 miles away from everything you've known can be quite liberating; and the kick in the pants you needed to change careers and lifestyle.
6) Always appreciate the moments you have with your friends, and loved ones. Unfortunately, they can be taken away from you unexpectedly and you're left thinking, "So this is it? That's all there is?"
7) To not end this on a depressing note; don't look back; just look forward. Again, I knew this already but it bears repeating after this rather tumultuous 2003.
No matter how many bags you take out with you when you walk the dog , the dog will always poop one more time than you have bags. And that's the time you'll have a witness to the incident.
9) Swimming through entire schools of fish is very trippy, but also highly recommended.
10) Yes, Virginia, iguanas do really fall out of trees.

I've learned to take the popcorn out of the microwave just before it completely stops popping....I've also learned that burnt popcorn can smell up a house for DAYS....
