I think it would depend if the employee is certified (CPT? - a little help here JU).
Pool boys prolly get minimum wage, if that's what you're looking to apply for.

My fitness center has probably a half-dozen "management" type staff who prolly make that much, but then everyone else isn't all that much above minimum wage.
I've always equated gym wages with being kinda sucky.

My guess is that the maintenance people probly make like $7/ hr. Just a guess.

I would think a gym like Golds would be higher than minimum wage. May depend on your postion too. At my gym I pay minimum wage which is currently $6.50 hr. I also give you free membership and unlimited tanning, plus a key and rights to use the gym 24/7.
Being a small town gym/small business I also have several people who work for membership. About 7 hours a month for single membership or 10-12 for a family membership. Either of these includes the tanning for the employee but not the entire family.
Everyone who works at the gym except me has the same title....Fitness Associate. I am the CEO/ Trainer/Workout Nazi. I pay myself minimum wage also. Realz. Life is good indeed.
