I've been doing some self-analysis lately, and trying to figure out what matters to me at this stage of my life, and what makes me happy.
For those of you that are comfortable sharing, I'm interested in what makes you happy.

For me it's not always about things - sometimes it just comes down to a choice - I choose to be happy.
Also, I choose to have a positive attitude and I think that happiness is secondary to that.

This sounds very familiar and I agree with it wholeheartedly except that I believe happiness is a direct result of a positive attitude on life and love.
Believe it or not, I used to be a very unhappy pessimistic person entirely by choice. I am a much better person today.

I think the Hempster is right on. And not only choosing to be happy, but the choices you make in life that make you happy. Choosing to live in a place you enjoy, spending your days with the person you love most, having a job that you're giddy about, raising a family to be proud of. Basically, like the old saying goes, "Bloom where you're planted".

well, so many of you know that "being your true self" is #1 on my list of things that make me happy. I can never go back to pretending to be someone or something else.
helping others is another joy for me. teaching, being the music director at the church, finding ways to help others anonymously are all things that make me happy.
my kids. I can't tell you how much joy they bring to my life. it is killing me to be separated from them like this.

Finding joy in the small things. Like seeing a new type of bird on my way to work. Baking a fresh batch of cookies. Making my husband laugh. Hearing good things about my son.

I don't need much to make me happy. Actually, I can be made happy by negative reinforcement, meaning the absence or removal of an aversive stimulus....which in my case is just a normal day of bureaucracy where people do their job...just show up for meetings with their paperwork done and sign the forms without arguing.....that makes me happy......

I wish I knew what makes me happy.
But I'm not unhappy, so that's something right there.

A cold beer, good friends, whispering with my children while they're getting ready to go to sleep, bright flowers, singing, a fire in the fireplace, the way the sun pours into our dining room in the mornings, camping, the shore, Rex. Not in that order.

Almost anything can make me happy. Dosen't take much.
Specifically:
Hubby's voice and smile. The sound of Sophie wagging her tail. Knowing there are people out there who love me. The sun, stars and moon. Flowers, chocolate, coffee....I could go on.

Good answers here.
I'm happier than I've been in I don't know how long. Just being here with my kids, doing everything we have to do as a single unit, alll of us pulling together to make our new life work. This makes me very happy.
Today, just now, peppermint schnapps in my homemade mocha.
A good book, good movie, cuddling with the kids while we're watching something together, singing in the Jeep, the silly things the boys say, the way Libby rolls her eyes at my silliness, putting a puzzle together with Lib... I cannot imagine being much happier than I am right now. Life is so good, and we are so blessed.
