Kim and soon Mike are beginning to have friends over the house for play dates, etc. Its hard being addressed as Mr. Oaster but that is what there parents told them. I have my kids address their friend parent as Mr/Mrs. as well.
part of getting older I guess.

they call me Mr. Clark, but many of them remember me as a substitute teacher. One of my daughter's boyfriends was afraid to talk to me because I intimidated him. He told her that he wanted to walk up to me and call me Stevie.....daughter prevented it because she knew I'd have killed him. My kids make sure that their friends address us properly.
Now as far as getting used to being called mr. when I first started teaching and a kid would call me Mr. Clark, I would always think I should turn around and look for my dad.

My daughter Brianna's friends call me Mrs. Brianna's Mom, which is kind of cute. When I go help out at school or in my religious ed. class, they do call me Mrs. Donohue. I find that the kids in the neighborhood call me Tamra, due to their parents.

I don't have any kids yet (first is on the way), but I'm in the National Guard and have been for almost 17 years. I took my commission about 3 and a half years ago. I'm finally getting used to being called sir by most my troops (it's very odd when you've known someone for years on a first name basis and all of a sudden they have to address you as sir). I imagine that it won't be too tough of an adjustment when my kids friends start coming over doing the mr. thing.
Of course, my dad always told my friends the following quote when they addressed him as sir: "My dad is Mr. Mikkelsen, you may call me Larry"

When my kid's friends do get up the nerve to address me, they call me Mr. Hendricks. For whatever reason, I've got a reputation of being mean and for the most part kids avoid me like the plague.
I'm 32 y.o. and I still address my cow-orkers and sir and ma'am. I guess it's a Southern thing because I was never in the military.

Everyone calls me Laur. Just about. I never introduce myself that way, but they hear it from Michael and others. My kids friends are great, and they don't do the formal thing anymore. I tell them "thanks for your good manners, but we know each other now, so just call me by my first name".

I don't have kids either, but all my neighbors' kids call me Miss Genie, which I find odd since that's a Southern thing, I thought.....and my close friends' kids all call me Aunt Genie, which is cool. I don't think anyone uses my last name because they can't pronounce it!

LOL that happened here too! I am the Daddy in the house and that makes sense to do it that way (at least at their age)
At school, Kindergarteners and 1st graders will often call me MRS. Clark and I don't bother to correct them. Every teacher they have known is a Mrs. They are getting the respect right, the actual terms can come later.

It's the kilt that has them confused.
