...so I don't post much here or there for that matter, but I am having a problem wrapping my mind around this...
It's OK for a teen girl to choose a medical procedure for convenience, religious reasons, lack of religious reasons, health concerns, etc. when it's her body and her choice...
...yet a teen male is not afforded the same rights?

The difference I see is the boy apparently has a life threatening medical problem. Do I agree with the judges decision? No. But then I don't agree with the parents or the boy either for not wanting to seek medical treatment. That prolly makes on sense at all right? I'm not good at ON TOPICY subjects.

Interesting. What was most interesting was that the parents share custody of the boy with Social Services...which makes him partly a ward of the state...which means that the gov't gets a say in his treatment because he is a minor. Or, so I read it.

the difference? well the treatments have a proven success rate. I've heard this story and I believe they said 85% success. His alternative has NO proven record. He doesn't want to through the pain and agony of chemotherapy. If the courts say, "we understand, no one should force you throught that torture, you should live your last days in peace", then they better free Dr. Kevorkian and not call him "dr. death" but "dr. peaceful living".
that said, I "do" think it's his choice. But I also think it's the wrong one and I think his parents are just "weak". Yes, it's hard to see a child go through this. But hey, his mom probably has some embryos on ice and he can be replaced.
