all the telephone lines are down
Okay, so the telephone lines seem to be in tact for the most part its INSANE here. It has been really pouring all day today and it just took me 2 hours to drive 6 miles. abandoned flooded out cars all over the place, the freeways are flooded so the surface streets were ridiculously congested. And we're about to get more, plus more tornadoes....where did I leave my goggles and floaties...

I should have just run home from work. I just thought it would hurt in the heels I was wearing.

Gave me the perfect excuse to skip class tonight. The 50 mile drive to Denton would have taken til Wed.
I did begin training for my triathalon when I had to swim to my car. The schools parking lot has a flooding problem. There were waves. Kids were surfing. Of course, the rain here began at 2:30 or so, right before the bell.

There is a bayou (thats usually empty or has a few puddles) about a 1/2 a block from me that went over the banks today. Its back within the banks right now but less than a foot from the top. We just went down there to look at it, unbelievable. Its like the Ohio river, probably 30+ feet deep, fast and full of currents. I've had calmer nightmares ....So, just twiddling my thumbs, waiting for the next round to knock it back over the banks... fortunately the next complex over would get it first, soften the blow to us...

I'm staying up until the rain hits here. It's been so long since I've seen a good rain, and I'd love to fall asleep with it hitting on the roof. Now hurry it up, I'm tired.

Happy now? Hope we didn't take too much rain from you.
Fortunetely, I didn't realize we were under tornado watches/warnings throughout the day. The kids would have been having class with me hiding in my closet.
Cheryl's area had some tornados though.

EEK!!! WTF is up with this weather????? We are under a flood watch here in NW Illinois too. And my Grandma says we are suppose to get a storm here like we haven't seen in years on Sunday. Says so right there in The Farmer's Almanac.

I lived (and drove) through a storm like that once or twice when I lived in Houston. Those are defining events.
Of course I needed a drink when I got in, but all's well that ends well.
Hope you guys are drier today.
