Posted: 09/09/04 - 10:11 Post subject: Well the next two days are real important for Abby**UPDATE**
NUMBER 1
I leave in at about 1030 today to take Abby to CHOP for an attempt at her Remicaid infusion. She has been very sick lately and in a great amount of pain around the clock. She has on top of belly pain a rash on almost her whole body that has her itching like crazy. She has been keeping her nurse Carole, Robin and I very busy lately with all of the attention she has needed. She also looks pale so I do not even know if her red blood cell count is high enough to recieve the injection. She may even be admitted to the hospital.
The IV should be interesting because she is in a very bad mood and is not cooperative with all of the meds, pain and itching she is doing.
NUMBER 2
Tomorrow, barring her being admitted today we see CHOP's "back/spine" top doc tomorrow. He is going to look at her continual slummping/arching back and is going to do a complete back panel on her. He is also going to evaluate and compare her last tow back panel series to see the degree of change in the last two years. This may have to get corrected sooner than later because she may not be able to walk soon if her slouch continues.
The severe scoliosis she has, as severe as it is cant even be touched until the spine is fixed or at least stabilized.
I at this point am getting pretty demanding. I want some answers on both issues about Abby. Number 1 more than anything because of the constent irritation and frustration we go through in trying to keep ahead of Abby's pain and just daily management.
We are considering taking a ride to Hopkins to get one of their people to look at her. We have a cousin who is a doc on staff at Hopkins and I am going to try to get her to get some contacts for me.
Abby was also supposed to start school today. She wont be going until at least Monday now
The word of the day in our household is frustration.
Thanks for listening I needed to get this off my chest.
Regards
Joe

I can't bear the thought of a child suffering. I know you do everything possible for her too. Keep at it Joe and good luck. Better days for Abby are coming.

1 down one to go.
The treatment went okay. It took 2.5 hours to get the IV in but the infusion went otherwise okay.
One of the nurses who was with Abby used to be an OR nurse and has been through over 20 surgeries with us. She transfered to the GI suite where they do the infusion, she sat down with me today and made the mistake of asking how I was doing. She left the room an hour later. (Abby was the last patient so I was not taking her away from anyone)
we will see how it goes.
