It's harder to see if there's a new post... and... the colors draw attention to the screen.... great. now my boss will see even easier when I'm online

yeah, that is a huge thing that is missing. I'm hoping that it is some sort of a server glitch that they aren't here and that they were not just done away with.
To me, this layout has more of the feel of CH.

It's a bit distracting, but like TriBob, I'm really missing the thread originator, and last person columns.
The forum seems loud, but the font is small.

I could get used to the changes. There are some things that might make things a bit easier to use:
shade the thread titles on the page to make them easier to see
make the font a bit bigger on the thread titles (over 40 here!  )
add original poster and last poster info

I am trying to decide if the layout designer was Salvador Dali or Pablo Picasso...
A bit too much red for my taste....place looks like a scene from a Jason and Freddy slashfest....
Missing some of the features that we previously had....and I miss them.

I'm going on the "too much red" thing too. I think the lines with all the red need to be thinned out or changed to a different color.
Red is not a color that will attract people as much. It's more aggressive and I believe it will deter readers.
