Posted: 07/29/06 - 03:44 Post subject: Well, I have arrived....
in Calgary, Alberta at around 1:30 am Mountain Time (12:30 PST)...Some highlights so far: We visited Lake Louise (the water and glaciers were amazing!), drove through Banff National Park, and saw a female elk by the roadside.
We're staying near the downtown area...remarkable that the city skyline looks so much like Vancouver...
I suspect that the landscape's kinda flat...I'll find out tomorrow morning when it's brighter...
Anyways it's been over 12 hrs on the road, including stops...now time to catch some ZZZs...

I'll post them when I get back to Vancouver.
Updates: We're currently in Edmonton, having arrived there yesterday evening and are staying in a family friend's home for the next few days. It was a long 3 hour drive up north on the freeway from Calgary...Alberta's basically flat with rolling fields of canola and grass.
Calgary was hot (high 70s to mid 80s)...Edmonton, relatively cooler...it rained today and temps were in the 50s. We visited West Edmonton Mall today (largest shopping mall in the world)...incredible that it's large enough to enclose several theme parks.
I'm planning to head out for a run tomorrow morning on one of the running trails just behind the house I'm staying at. We may head to Drumheller tomorrow (dinosaur excavation sites.)

<----------extremely jealous
Calgary is one of my favoritest places EVAH!!! It is SO beautiful there, I am turning green with envy as we speak. Banff and Lake Louise are some of the most picturesque spots in that area!!!!! Too bad you didn't get there a few weeks earlier for Stampede and the Marathon--good times!
Kananaskis is a great little mountain town and it isn't too far from Olympic Village, which is still a pretty cool thing to see, although after I re read this again, I guess you're gone already.
Can't wait to see pics of my happy place!!!! Hurry home and post!!!
