Posted: 10/30/03 - 20:35 Post subject: Welcome to Round Two.
Let's start this one by stating I've had a pretty good day, and I'm sorry for those of you haven't. Nonetheless, stuff at work was just aggravating enough for me to look forward to run with a purpose tonight. The fact it was 70* after several days in the mid-40s didn't hurt, either.
So I'm in the first mile along the road when a car comes around the corner and slows as it comes toward me. An arm sticks out of the passenger side giving half the peace sign, and a voice booms out "Hey, a**face, thanks for the ticket!" It all kicked in - these were the guys who heckled me a few months ago when I ran: same two mopes, same car. Sheesh - I get heckled twice in my brief running life, and it's the same two.
This time they don't speed off, but drive by slowly. As they drove past, they gave the finger again. Something inside made me turn and jog toward the car. Same thing made me say the first thing that came to my mind -
"Come on over here, big man. I've got a wiffle bat with your a** written all over it."
A pause then, "He's coming over here! Floor it!" Followed by the car peeling out with yelps of terror.
Hmmmph - I am I that scary-looking?
then, but not now. If this was one, end of rant.

I second Pfffffffff's emotion.
I am always so proud of people who stand up for themselves. You did good.
But I'm glad these a$$clowns weren't armed.....

at the wifflebat call!
Good for you g. A testament to your speedwork if they felt they had to floor it to get away from you.

Good job G. Maybe it was because you were running in your Halloween mask that they were so scared?

For those of you who expressed some concern, thank you. I also realized afterward I had the same shirt and shorts both times. As the shirt is quite distinct* and getting gamey, it's good a time as any to toss it.
* for the interest of a certain RRer - no, it isn't the yellow plaid one

Great job G. I'm somewhat paranoid of people these days I probably would't have confronted them. I'd have just maced them and ran away.

Half the peace sign....or half the "up yer kilt" sign? There is a difference.
And come to think of it, you HAVE developed a rather Bundy-esque quality over the last couple year.

A strangely frightening mix of both.

These two guys sound pretty stupid. Hello-didn't they see that you didn't have a whiffle bat in your hand? Like you leave various objects along your running route to fight of the riff raff of your town.
