I just started it again in fact.

I did it in college after the "post mono/post turning 21 rapid weight gain" Wink and it really worked well, I was able to lose 20 lbs on what I found to be a reasonable very healthy balanced plan. I just got the modified current version of the plan (not too different from what I did) and I'm going to follow it on my own this time to lose the 10lbs I've gradually picked up in the last year in hopes that I can get into a bridesmaid's dress I've been asked to wear in July that is currently a wee bit too tight....Anyway, as for WW, I like it.

the bfs mom did it for a long time... to me it seems like too much of a hassel to count points all day. but it was nice that (in theory) you could eat what ever you wanted. she tried out a lot of WW recipes on us too and for the most part they were tasty.

and i dont think she lost all that much weight while doing WW, but she wasnt exercising much either. now she just counts carbs....

My wife did it via the internet for a while and she seemed to like it. Of course, she actually liked the part about keeping count of the calories. She stayed on it a few months, lost some weight, but then sorta lost interest.

I did WW at one point and was not successful on it. I had a problem with knowing that I could have some of my favorite junk foods while on that diet. I would literally use up all of my points on large fries at McDonald's. Neutral

I'm one who cannot have choices where can eat or be allowed to eat any kind of junk food at all.

I do know people who are very successful on WW and have maintained their goal weight for years. I'm always impressed with them and their ability to stick to it. The diet was not for me...but it does work.

Good Luck. Very Happy

Nope, but have known several ladies who changed their lives completely due to WW. Two of them had lost about 60 pounds when I last saw them a year ago.

It is a great program when followed exactly.

To me, weightloss is very personal so I don't tend to be attracted by group weigh ins and the like.

Some people really like that and it works for them, though. I am an odd duck.

No, you're not odd. If anyone told me what to eat, when, and where, and then made me do a group weigh-in I'd go postal on them.

This is going very well for me. It helps that Mr. Go has been really successful on it and lots of people at my office are doing it, too so there's a lot of support.

I like that I can have whatever I want. I think life without pasta and beer isn't worth living.

Sandy is doing it. She stopped going to the meetings but is still following the points. Slow, but gradual weight loss. We think this is better than the rubber band potential of Atkins.

I know an individual who was a boxer--very wiry person who had gained a little weight as he got older. (Personally, I couldn't see where) He wanted to lose weight so he could run faster and has done a great job on Atkins. He's lost 30 pounds on it so far and has improved his race times. I'll be interested to see if he gains or is able to keep it off.

I think different things work for different people. I'm tickled when people find what works for them--and congratulations to Sandy!!!!!

I joined WW in 2001. I weighed 225 lbs. I currently weigh 154 lbs. Here's a link to my story: http://www.geocities.com/kimba90/weightloss.html

I did it all on-line, I have never attended a WW meeting.
I'm still doing WW, as I feel I could lose at least 10 more lbs. I don't feel WW understands atheletes all that well, but at least now you can eat any activity points that you earn. WW is just pretty much common sense, healthy eating. For me, back in the beginning, the big deal was portion control--actually measuring out what a portion was. I highly recommend WW.

Atkins was working, but it was such a pain to cut out so many things from her diet and any time she went off Atkins she gained it right back.

Atkins is not for the faint of heart (read: me). I don't think I could give up so many tasty veggies. (Something in my mind says all veggies=good for you.)

He is still plugging away and looking good though.[/list]

I can't do any of that prescribed diet business because of my ED history. The more I have to focus on food, which I felt WW made you do, the worse it gets. I did enough of that in my really sick days. But I agree with Aire, I know many people who were very successful on WW, including one friend who lost over 90 lbs and is now one of their speakers/meeting runners. I'd say, like Aire, that it's very personal, and whatever works for you, as long as it's balanced and healthy, is a good thing! But honestly, good health is a lifestyle thing, more so than not eating this or that, it's everything: exercise, stress management, nutrition, no one thing is going to make you healthy, and weight loss isn't the only goal in a healthy lifestyle. But if it makes you feel better and want to take care of yourself, then it's all good. Smile
