Picked up running again just over a year ago. That and just plain ol' eatin' bettah have done it for me. Lost 30 pounds, lowered my cholesterol 40+ points, and have kept it off. I'd like to lose another 15 or so this Summer. We'll see! |
Woohoo! As Shelfie says, YOU ROCK!!

I was always athletic in high school and even as a teen probably never thought to weigh myself.
A few years after high school I realized I had gained a few lbs but didn't really think much of it, It was just a few lbs right? Well a few lbs a year for a few years adds up. At 160 lbs and size 13 I'd had enough. Something just clicked that I wasn't happy with being that way. I started drinking diet soda and when I sat down to eat I'd eat half of what I normaly ate. I don't know how many lbs a week I lost but it went quick!
I was down to 135 for about 6 months before I started weight training. I noticed results quickly and was very encouraged. I decided I needed more cardio to enhance my workouts, so I started this running program I found in Shape magazine. I think it was similar to the C to 5k. Funny thing was when I started, running for 1 minute was enough to make me want to hurl. (I was never a runner in school either)
After a few weeks of that I was down to 125 and a size 6! I've kept running because I found I enjoy it. It is not something I do to lose more weight . I weigh 130 now but I'm sure alot of that is muscle and I'm happy with this weight. I've kept my eating better and exercising up for 3 years now.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!

I posted my weight loss story about a month ago: http://runningforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7874
I've also mentioned my problem with an Eating Disorder; I'm at a healthy weight, but I'm struggling to stay there and even gain a few pounds. For those people who say things like "I wish I had some of what you have!" NO YOU DON'T! I've also noticed that a lot more people have issues with food since I've come out about my problem.
