Every Monday I have to send a summary detailing the previous week. The first part is bulleted by day, the second part is restating the bulleted information in paragraph form.
My favorite part about last week:
Balancing the coded estimate was the toughest task of the week. The coded estimate is a breakdown of the project by division. The various bid packages are assigned an accounting code number based on the type of work. For example, the dirtwork is 4080. Our main project number is 6892. Excavating's file number is 6892-4080. Once I was able to see how the numbering system works, it made a lot more sense. However, the total job cost was off by approximately $1 million. Three of us worked on trying to make the numbers on the estimate balance to the total at the bottom and could not do it. The project manager and project engineer talked with the Vice President about his mad math skills and realized we were right and he was wrong.
Either that or he got caught hiding some money.
