Posted: 06/28/04 - 08:23 Post subject: Weekend reports?
Slow buildup weekend this was....started out , went to then back to and Sunday was pretty much and
Friday night: spent most of it working on the transcripts for my video project that was due Saturday. Minor film glitches caused a momentary which was nicely alleviated by a long chat with my favorite coach
Saturday: school all day but the good news, I got an A- on the midterm and an A on my video project. He really had to stretch to find anything to criticize and everything the other students said, he refuted and said I was right on. Saturday night, a much needed chillin' and watching movies night with the roomie and a very good weight workout.
Sunday: a pretty darn good day! Slept in a little, went for a run with the roomie followed by a nice long hike on the trail, on and off tracked Patrick's progress at IMCDA (he finished in a very respectable time too!), went to the pool and swam a freakin' mile, baby!!! WOO HOO!!! I LOVE swimming, I'd forgotten how much. Perfect water temp, the pool was empty and I didn't have to share a lane and it felt great. Then, met up with kobyj for dinner since he was in town this weekend, and we had a great time. Well, OK, I can't speak for him..I had a great time. Riff Raffers rock!
And you?????

Friday - I remember nothing between 8:45 and noon. LC said after the surgery, they had to help me out to the waiting room, where I started to tell bad jokes. I remember none of anything the doctor said, or going back to the car (NO I DID NOT DRIVE). I do remember waking up (?) about two miles from home when LC mentioned a bluejay flew in front of the car. Got home, took more pain medicine, and slept again from noon to two.
Saturday - Went to JU's race (reported elsewhere). Still no solid foods.
Sunday - No running - achilles still bothering me. Went to an antique sale literally down the street from us. Finally go to eat some solids. Invited to a Juy 4 party - when my friend heard about the toothwork he made it a point to put corn on the cob on the fare.

Fri: OMG I don't remember WHAT I did! yeesh... I'm getting old.
Saturday: Slept in. To the Zoo to see the new Tiger cubs with Maddy. Then we went hiking. Note to self: "Rugged" trails are not good for 9 year olds. Home and dinner at Polly's Freeze.
Sunday: hung out, watched Patrick. Did the checkbook. Went for a run. Made dinner. Hit the hay and slept like a LOG.

Just the same, I can foggily remember some of the really embarassing things I've said as I've come out from the gas... or, for that matter, as I've headed IN to it... What IS that stuff they put in your veins? (This could be an entirely new thread...)

I did see Fahrenheit 9/11 and i'm going to be working on the review today. The only trouble is that i'll be training someone to help me while my temp is gone for 5 weeks, so my ability to sit and write will be less.

Cool Stuff: Took the girls to the local Kids Run for Fun. Carla hollered (as per her norm) as I half-carried her the 1/8th of a mile for the under 2 kids. Shelby tripped over a gal at the start, but picked herself up like a trooper and ran for the finish. She completed her 1/4 mile run only 5 seconds below her PR even with the fall. I was very proud of her.
Necessary Stuff: I didn't workout this weekend and went off my diet. I felt too stressed out. I'm picking up the reigns once again, though, today. I think it was good to have a break.
I finished grading what I had planned to grade in my coin collection.
Geeky Stuff: I completed my level 40 chess tactics problems with 80% accuracy (less than my hoped for 90%). These problems are candidate master level, so I'm not too upset. I'll run through them again this week and get to that 90% level early on. By the end of the week, I should be working level 50 (chess master level) problems.

friday: dinner and dancing
saturday: movie: Stepford Wives. I liked it. went to a park and fed the ducks (which we're not supposed to do)
sunday: church, went to an exhibit at Fallingwater which included quotes from my grandmother, who grew up on a farm on neighboring property, so she was interviewed as part of a living history project. visited with some friends who work at the site (I used to work at Fallingwater too) then visited my brother. THEN, went to talk to mom, and made her cry.....see the "have you" thread.
edited to add: I tried to call a friend but she NEVER takes my calls anymore

Fri: Took aft. off work and drove to see gf. Dinner and drinks that night.
Sat: Went to gf's parent's house, hung out at their pool, almost got sunburned, cooked out and had drinks.
Sun: Extreme sinus discomfort from swimming in the pool (although my lap swim never bothers me?). Drove back to gf's place. Ate. Drove back home.

Friday:
Went to the gym early and got ready to go to church. That evening went to church to see Nolefan 1 & 2 do their summer camp performances. This will probably be the only time that they do something like that together (due to their age differences). Both did great. This was Nolefan 2's very first time on stage and she was so cute. After that, it was pizza time.
Saturday:
Nolefan 1 had a birthday and party. Two of her friends came over to spend the day with her. Everyone went to Build A Bear, Red Robin to eat, The Garfield movie, home for cake and a sleepover. I got to get out later that night to run in the neighborhood and try out my new Camelbak. It was nice to use as it was still 96 degrees at 9:30pm.
Sunday:
Got off to a late start, but went to the pool.
Cleaned house.
Played Spongebob late last night. That game is addictive!

Oh...
Bret, I don't think chess is geeky. I love chess, even though I'm terrible at it. I used to love teaching my math kids how to play it.
MastrBrewr, Uh...how do you "almost" get sunburned??? Either you get sunburned or you don't.
