Posted: 02/24/03 - 20:58 Post subject: We finally found our Au Pair
She is 23 years old from Brazil. I do not think she has ever seen snow Robin told her well we just got 2 feet .
We will likely be picking her up in April or May and she will be spending a year with us.
She has 2 years of direct experience in dealing with a retarded child and is more than willing to learn the care of Abby.
(as long as Abby has critical needs, she will have nursing, but if she has a colostomy that is pretty basic care. Just a little harder than changing a diaper.)
She speaks English fairly well but Portugeese (sp) is her native language. It is interesting because Abby's GI doc is Portugeese and it could be fun to introduce them.
She is a little nervous but excited. We are excited to. It will make our life much easier.

A Brazilian au pair . You'll sure be popular down at the station .
Seriously though, it is great that you are going to be getting some live in help with Abby .

It is more for the other two and also to free me up to do basic chores and to have someone around while we both work.
We were not happy with day care and the baby sitter. This will be in our house, with our toys and it is just easier for them and us instead of getting them ready in the morning etc.

We have had wimmins in the house for almost two years. Some of the therapists are real hotties and some of the nurses too. I have too much personal honor to do that. It has not even been thought of by Robin. I guess she really trusts me.

Great news, indeed! It would be really great to have your children exposed to a second language too. Will have her try to teach the kidlets some Portuguese?

I have brought up the Au Pair idea to Buffy. She asked me if I was smoking crack because she figured I must be to suggest inviting a 20 something girl into our house to live!
I told her she could pick out the troll, I mean au pair!
Still no...

Show her the costs. About 13500.00 a year vs what you have. Tell her she can get a young stud if she wants, they do have male Au pairs available.

Good for you and Robin.
I'm in the group that would never get one though (and don't need one now). My wife would have a fit if I tried to bring a 20-something female in to the house.
