invited all 12 houses on the cul de sac. about 5 are coming. Should be fun. Did a low key affair to see interest. We are hoping that we can eventually do ones where we get the moon bounces and stuff.
should be interesting, the weather is supposed to be nice also.

Ranger is very upset you decided to have this party while he's up here. LIke you're supposed to plan your social life around him.

tell G I am sorry, but the criteria for a block party is living on the street...
we need to have a posse party sometime when you get down to this latitude.

Apparently you live on the fun end of the housing addition AND you're cool people.
DH and I live on the fuddy duddy end of our 'hood. About a year ago there was a block party at the fun end and every house on that end attended. We were the only house from our side that joined in the fun.
Do you find it's harder and harder to know your neighbors? When I was growing up we all knew our neighbors and we were all a couple acres apart. Now, we're all less than 1/2 acre apart and my neighbor to the left had a baby about a month ago (judging by the size of the bundle she carried in the house) and we didn't even know she was pregnant. We're outside and we're friendly enough.
I do know who my neighbors down the street are, they're the parents of one of my best girlfriends. I never liked them and the mother is a gossip. Every now and gain my girlfriend will tell me what her mother has told her about me and my house. It's kinda freakish.

I've talked to my neighbors once. I don't really see much point.

I think it's great!
I'm usually known to be the social butterfly of my neighborhood.
I just like to know the people I live near.
Have a great time!

I know I talk to myself and push a shopping cart full of plastic bags of cloths and junk...and I smell bad...but I got lots of love man..

I've lived here five years. I've never spoken to the people who live directly in front of me, or to the ones to the right. Is that weird?

We've lived in our house for ~ four years and still don't know the names of the Mosquito Ranchers next door. We've greeted them several times from our yard and they choose to keep to themselves. I find that better than some of the other neighbors we've experienced in places we've lived in the past. The house on the other side of ours is divided into four apartments and we rarely get to know the renters. The landlords of that one are nice ladies, though.
Kudos to those of you who can maintain any sort of relationship with your physical community. Ours is a mix of business and residential and it's difficult to have that same bond.

This sounds really interesting! I am reading a book called "Making Room for Life" which talks about having more circular relationship than linear ones. Circular relationships are the ones you are trying to get with those in your neighborhood. I think you will find your life much more enjoyable after this party. Research from this book shows your life will become more stress free! Let me know how it turns out!

I do not know much about venn diagrams and stress , but we have a nice group of people. We enjoy getting together, and are all fairly close in age.
Highlight of the day was talking with our 83 year old neighbor who was in WWII in the USN. My 3 year old son had a nice chat with him. JJ's eyes lit up when I told him that Mr. Gene was a solider (JJ prays for the soliders every night)

Does this mean we get to see more drunken Joe pics?
And what is a moon bounce?
Block parties are fun. I miss the ones we had in Ohio. We're getting to slowly know some of our neighbors, but we're in a pretty isolated spot down here.
