Posted: 04/09/06 - 13:22 Post subject: We Have a severe storm warning.
There is no hurricane watch, and of course we all know that there is no global warming. That is all.
I think that this is going to be another early hurricane season. I hope that I am wrong. I can feel it in my joints. I'd like to be out of here by July 1. I will know next Friday (Good Friday, so hopefully it is good for us. Although I don't think it was very good Friday for Jesus if you believe the Bible).
A big branch just blew down on our roof. I nwon't be going to the beach today.
Never get into an arguement with a nun over Easter and the whole three day concept. OK. He died on Friday at three. I'll give him half a day for that, and all day Saturday. But he was up by dawn on Easter. So, another half day. That's two days, not three!!!!
Seriously, if you want to get into trouble at a parochial school, argue with a nun over this and other insignificant theological matters. It's an easy ticket to a phone call to your father and a half day off school.

They ARE lucky. It is a natural thing for children to question these matters. At times, they get knocked into submission when they are older, but if you keep telling them to question everything, they do not.
I used to get into arguements with nuns because I would tell them that I didn't want to believe in a religion that was sending half of the world to hell. That was also usually another call to Dad. The thing is, I didn't want to get out of school, really. I just wanted to know WHY? and how could that be? And why do you want me to believe in something like this, and tell me everyone else, regardless of whether or not they have hear of your religion, are going to HELL?
Sorry. I spent last night explaining to Larry why Easter isn't the same day every year, unlike Christmas. Then, I had to explain the entire reason for Good Friday, and Palm Sunday, and attempted (from my somewhat limited knowledge base) why since Jesus was Jewish, some factions of the Jewish faith don't believe that he was the Son of God. Then the Roman soldier Pontius Pilate thing...
I guess I took for granted that everyone, for some time until they rebelled got sent to some sort of religious service on the appropriate day.
I have a renewed respect for theology professors. I hope I explained theories and general history well. It's hard, because I did and still do question many, many dogmatic theories to which organized religion still stubbornly clings.
Then we discussed Passover and why it is so important. (The Exodous). I'm probably not the best on this but I do know a bit. And then WHY Passover and Easter don't coincide on the exact day.
I am being paid back for questioning the nuns. I feel this.
