Agreed. I'm in the preliminary stages, and figured the collective wisdom of Riff Raff was a good starting point.

We have had our Sears Kenmore (don't know make or model) washer and dryer since 1990, and they are still going strong. We even took them t hrough 3 moves.

What you're saying is is that you wouldn't trust the collective genius that is Riff Raff and that you'd rather trust some magazine that doesn't have your best interests at heart???
I see where this is going.
True. Since the collective genius would mirror the selections made by the largest testing facility in the world.
Why bother with some dumb magazine when you can just get it here.

We had a hand me down Whirlpool set that was 10 years old when we got it and we had it 5 years. It was still working great when we got my mother in law's Amana set. I.hate.them!
I'm opposed to top loaders because I'm short and it's a pain to get to the bottom of the tub of a big washer. Front loaders are the way to go!
My next set will be the Maytag Front Load Neptune Washer and matching Neptune Drying Center (includes cabinet to hang stuff on and flat dry)
This pic is the top loader washer.

Honestly G...I've always heard and been told that you never go wrong with a Maytag or Kenmore.
A good friend of ours (RIP) swore by his Maytag when he was alive (18 years).
My mother swears by her Kenmore's (15 years+).
I have a Maytag washer and GE dryer. The Maytag is great. It replaced a Hotpoint we had and had to get rid of after a few short years (Hotpoint is a GE product).
I'm picky. I'd rather buy them in sets. The only reason we didn't when we got the Maytag was because our dryer was new. I would get them both at the same time.

I want this! I don't dry all of my things in the dryer and want to hang dry them. I'm so picky and this would be a dream.

front loading washer, uses less water much more efficent.
GE or Kenmore can't go wrong.
we had a new dryer when we bought our washer, Robin's mom had bought one a year before she died, we switched out our older one here for that one and sold it with her house.

We've had our Sears Kenmore Washer Dryers for about 26 years now. I have personally worked on the washer several times. I have also worked on the dryer to replace belts, wheels and heating elements. I would buy another Kenmore in a heartbeat.
The wife is looking at the new top loading washer dryers.

Have you looked at the Sears Scratch-n-DentTM place off of Jimmy Carter Blvd (but farther east where the street changes names)? There are fantastic bargains to be found there.

I had good experience buying my GE stacked washer/dryer combo at HH Gregg near Gwinnett Place Mall about 20 months ago. (I think I opened a HH Gregg Credit Card and got 10% of my purchase and no finance charges for a year. I paid the card off after two months and then closed the account.) They delivered the unit and set it up within two business days for an extra $90, if I recall correctly.
I bought my new Whirlpool dishwasher at Lowe's two months ago. They installed it at my house within 3 business days for ~$99 and hauled away the old one. So far, so good.

I went to that Sears Outlet when I was buying my washer/dryer combo. The deals weren't as good as I expected. For the models I was considering, there was maybe $25 - $40 difference between buying new at a place like HH Gregg/Home Depot/Lowes and their inventory. I decide to pass.

It's on Mountain Industrial. I plan to look there, but I've always heard it's hit-or-miss with what you'll find.
We got a second refrigerator for our garage there, dirt cheap, and it's a champ.
