Posted: 06/25/04 - 18:14 Post subject: War in Coolrunning
Check this out: http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/Forum6/HTML/010466.shtm There's a huge flaming war going on between a particular CR'er (who I think wants to get attention) and the rest of them... To think this would happen in the Basic Training Forum (where runners are supposed to share useful advice and training tips not a bunch of cr@p)...it's just sad.. I gave up reading the thread.
I wonder what impression would this have on new forum users...

I saw some of the headings.. I read about two posts. I thought that all was reserved for the CLubhouse, whatever they do there. Usually CR (or all the CR boards that I read) are friendly and cordial.

I saw that thread and variants of it when it first started. I bet I haven't read more than 5 posts total in all the threads combined by that particular individual nor of the responses back to them.
I've been just ignoring it and hoping the moderator of that forum learns how to either use their lock or move that type of thread to the CH over there.

I didn't even bother reading it.
I'm past tired of all the crap.
I have to make a clean break one of these days.

Once again, something over there that is a trivial waste of time.
It really isn't hard to stay out of those threads for me. I occasionally throw in a smart ass remark, and then run once the fire gets going. Kind of fun, actually.

Glad it's gone. It's fine for the CH, where that kind of thing belongs, but not in basic training.
So on an entirely different subject...I was thinking about going to the Olympics and training their marathoners. Anyone with my blazing times, and vast experience should be willing to share with those slackers. What do you all think?

Blazing times and vast exerience aside, what about that shining personality? That alone would be reason enough!

I missed the original, but there's some kind of Chapter 3 going on. I'll need a few cups of coffee to get through it. If anybody reads it all, can you summarize? X?

Well that's nice and 12 pages to boot. I didn't read it either. I do hope that huge thread don't crash their site though.

On a yellow legal pad with the usual ~32 lines per page and using normal-sized handwriting, that post would have taken up about nine pages.
I'll only comment on a couple of things. One, I am well aware if my writing style on the Cool Running forums were indicative of my habits when writing for print, I would never expect to be published. It is a contrivance. What I write here is - with the exception of occasional servings of undisguised hyperbole - since; I do, however, use this craphole as a clearinghouse for bursts of verbal flatulence far outisde anyone's concept of the vernacular, flinging around arcane words when common ones will do and deploying adverbs - the true scourges of any decent writer - at ten times the rate I otherwise would.
Also, I'm really not good-looking. I said I was sexy and there's a big difference. If I rwere good-looking, I wouldn't run 100 or 90 or even 20 miles a week; I'd just stand in one place so that people could admire me rather than bolt into the distance in fear and shame whenever some curious and probably judgmental chick tries to fix me in her sights. Still, I manage to be something of a ladykiller, so it must be all the hot and heavy SAT words I whisper in women's ears at critical moments.
Hope that helps.
