Did anyone watch it on TV yesterday??
I saw bits and pieces of it. It looks like it is a nice memorial.

I missed it, I am glad they finally got a memorial (it looked nice from what I saw on the news), though I thought it was way long overdue.

I'm glad that it was built as well. It should have been done much sooner for the vets.

I didn't see any of it..but it looks great! I haven't been to DC since 1990. I haven't seen the Korean Memorial either. I'd like to go back to DC and see everything we didn't get to see in 1990....of course I would now like to run around the parks too....

having lived in DC (area) for 10 years and have seeing MANY monuments there two that are my favorite, and for very diferent reasons
1. the Korean. you must see it at Dusk or Dawn with a fog. nothing on the mall compares to this. the statues seem to be coming out of the mist to you. having been in Korea for a year it is very life like. The second part of the memorial the etched wall. once again you can feel and see the images moving towards you. VERY moving.
2. the FDR. with all that water, water falls and pools of water how can you not like this? it covers a large area and does not have any tall structures to it. But like with FDR and all his damn projects there are rocks and water everywhere. it is a lovely place to sit and reflect, cool of with a misting. (ok i once went skinny dipping in too with a cute red head but it was platoninc dipping) it is a feast for the eyes this monument.

This one is my favorite...of course it is where my husband proposed to me so I have quite a love for it!
If the weather is nice today I am actually going to go into DC and take some photos of the new memorial. If not today then sometime this week. I'll post photos when I get them!

I watched a little bit of if. It was long overdue.
Its a shame that 3.8 million of 12 million are around to see it.
The greatest generation indeed

That sounds cool! One of these years I am going to plan time to stop in DC to see the monuments again and stop in Richmond to see all the Civil War museums.

Sorry! It was raining all day today so I didn't go into DC. Hopefully I will get downtown sometime this week.
