Posted: 01/27/06 - 11:58 Post subject: WTF boss.... updated - it's all good now *whew*
today is my last day...
two weeks ago we sat down, met and said "this is my notice", he asked how long i was looking for and i said "it's up to you if you need me to go sooner, but it's two weeks otherwise".
today is two weeks.
i wrote a letter and it's been sitting on my desk since then (he never asked for official letter - and i didn't want to bring it up on monday).
the boys were joking about today being my last day, and he goes "no tuesday...?" and i'm like "uh... no? today? i put in my two weeks?".
so i have no idea... he seems to think he's given me to the end of the month - all my coworkers know today is supposed to be my last day.
what am i supposed to do?
i was 100% focused on starting over on monday... i guess two more days isn't a huge deal. but this is a mental kick in the nuts.

This is why you submit the letter. (You date letters.)

Doesn't do any good if you didn't give it to him on that date. I could type a letter and date it July 19, 1887.

Sounds like your boss isn't adminstratively sound, blue. Unfortunately, because you didn't give him the letter at the time, he can probably say it wasn't an 'official' notice (jrjo would know more on this than me).
personally, I would stay just so I have a positive reference. (oh and make sure to put some mental ice on your mental...)

shelfie - that's pretty much the only reason i would stay.
but how can i continue to reward a decidely mentally incapacitated boss that suffers from some form of administrative handicap?
i don't want to burn a bridge ....

chalk it up as a learning experience and move on (in other words: When YOU become the boss, you'll make sure not to be a tool like him).

i might be ok... he just came on the msn to apologize for putting me on the spot - and that he could make the corrections if necessary. and said he "assumed" end of the month...
yeah it's ok now - we're good for today.*sigh*...
*long sigh*
thanks for the advice, i really didn't seem him coming back and making this easier for me.
