tech guy came in this morning and upgraded my computer to Windows 2000. He said it will take a few minutes. 4 hours later I'm up and running. Plus I have to customize it all over again.

If you were running 98 or NT 4, I don't know what that guy was smoking to tell you it would only take a few minutes. Maybe they use imaging software like Ghost? Anyhow, welcome to the modern age. XP is over rated and unneccesary. Win2K is the way to go.

Big fat

I love Win2k (MS NT is ok here at work). I had purchased my Dell with WinMe, that s-u-c-k sucked. My upgrade to Win2k was a lifesaver.

I would answer that if you were using Windows ME (or earlier home OS) or Windows NT (or earlier business OS) the upgrade would be very necessary to be compatable with current hardware that is out there. Granted if you're not using newer hardware, you don't need the newer OS, but from my experience (and I do this for a living), Windows 2000 is a huge leap in reliability and stability compared to any previous Microsoft Operating systems.

edited for typo.

Alright! Expect a call when I'm thrashing around with my new Toshiba 2032 Pocket PC when it gets here any day now. Wink

Just don't tell me it's overrated and unnecessary. Wink
