Lhuggable: I'm curious as to how you were able to handle the surgery on your own. Did you drive, or did you use taxis or a car service to get to and from the hospital, hotel, and airport? I'm only 23, but because of my family circumstances, I'm extraordinarily independent and tough. I'm going to try to avoid going out there on my own if I can, but if I can't, knowing that someone did it solo is reassuring for me.
I have a three-hour train ride to my pain physician in Baltimore who's doing my Botox injections on Friday. I'm going to ask him about the possibility of injecting something else next time, but I don't how how successful the injections are going to be in the long run, especially since they're not even CT guided; he just uses stim to locate the muscles. My physicians keep telling me that I have to take everything one day at a time and I can't be thinking long term, but I can't help it. When this pain started, I was looking into PhD programs - I was smart, had an amazing resume, and had so much potential. As much pain as I'm in right now, I just want something that'll give me long-term relief, even if it's only partial relief. I know that I'll have good and bad days/weeks/months/years, but I want at least some element of stability. I never got to finish school or start my career, and I want that so badly. My doctors have all been focused on management of my pain, but like Menzie said, I want a diagnosis before I start thinking about management. If there's a problem there (like PS), I want to know so that I can learn how to manage it and/or so it can be corrected.
I'm really excited about getting my stimulator out on Wednesday - it's causing alot of discomfort and I'll be so glad to see it go.
