Looks like Racing/Event season is in full swing.

What is on your agenda the next few months?

My short spring race season is almost over...finished a 5k and a 10k, having an 8k coming up in 2 week's time which will be the last race of the spring.
Then Ill be training for the next 4-5 months for the fall race season. Planning to rack up some high mileage weeks this summer. (65-70 mpw planned by late intensity phase) There will be a 10k road race in late July at the end of base phase for a progress checker and a small XC race in mid September near the end of intensity phase.

First of all, you guys with summer races are nuts. It's very hard to find a summer race down here. There's a few 5ks and 3 milers, but nothing of substance, and nothing of importance. The spring season is almost over here, with just a few 5ks left in store. I'll probably be hard core training until October, when it finally cools down and the races pick back up.

I'll try to get in one more 5k this season, not sure which.
Maybe next weekend for some Measles Initiative? 5k on May 1.
If not then, MADD Dash 5k on May 8 or SMART 5k on May 15.
Probably the one on May 15 because it has a lower entry fee, what should be an interesting course downtown, and it gives me the most time to get some flats.

Over the summer there's a series of 2 milers on every other Wednesday evening that I'll try to do. 5 in all I think... hopefully they'll do some kind of grand prix type event with all of them.

Other than that, it's training... training... training. I've set up a decent plan for gradually increasing my mileage to about 50 mpw by the end of June.

yeah I know, Those are all tentative. The ones post marathon might be more of a recovery race but I still want to to do them. I will need to defend my 50K title next spring so no rest for the weary! Mr. Green

Floridaboiler has a lot of races, but elkid has a good chuck of races in a very short period of time also. I used to race about 35 times a year, but I've cut way back in recent years because of having a family, injuries, and trying marathons. I'll probably end up stepping the number of races up a fair amount this year. Very tentative schedule for this year:

02/08/04 - Truffle Shuffle 4M - 23:12 (5:4Cool - 13th OA, 2nd AG
03/13/04 - Run for the Shamrock 10K - 35:10 (5:40) - 6th OA, 1st AG
04/03/04 - April Fools 15K - 54:20 (5:50) - 1st OA, 1st AG
04/10/04 - Pepsi Mini Meet 5K (track) - 16:44.2 - 2nd OA, no age groups
05/01/04 - CASA 5K (likely to skip this)
06/12/04 - Steep Hill Chase 5K (cross country)
06/26/04 - Hayward Classic (track) - 10K (plus 3K or mile possible)
06/27/04 - Hayward Classic - 5K (plus 1500m possible)
07/04/04 - Butte to Butte 10K - Goal sub 34:00
07/08/04 - OTC All-comers (track) - 1500m and 800m
07/15/04 - OTC All-comers (track) - 1500m and 3000m
07/22/04 - OTC All-comers (track) - 1500m and 800m
08/14/04 - Scandia 10K
09/19/04 - Eugene Celebration 8K
09/??/04 - Bristow Challenge 15K
10/??/04 - Duck Dash 5K
11/25/04 - Turkey Stuffer 5K

This adds up to anything from 19 to 22 races depending on some doubles and a race this week I will likely skip. Things get a little sketchy following my goal races at the end of June and on July 4th. I may skip some of the track races and do a half marathon on July 18th and then step up the a marathon in October instead of the 5K.
