Don't ask me why, but when I read this I thought it said America's best mannered critics. I couldn't imagine why anyone would compile a list like that.

I notice Atlanta is conspicuously absent also....personally, I always had a very pleasant experience visiting that fair city......not a lot of Southern representation there, I think these results are a bit skewed. Savannah should have definitely made that list.

I agree, the South is not very well represented. I my 3 trips down south. I found the Sodners to be some of the friendliest and nicest people. Especially in Georgia.

I'm shocked that Newark and/or Trenton aren't on the list. I think the list is skewered, somehow.

Philly is always among the tops for tipping in national surveys of waiters and waitresses. Maybe that has something to do with it.

I actually love going to Philly. The people there are always so nice. It's a refreshing change from our neck of the woods.

Just don't go the convention center. The dang unions are driving away everyone.

Charleston SC I can believe.
I also agree on Savannah.
I like the south because everyone is so polite.

Well, maybe they've come farther south? Example--I was in the post office and I asked the postal clerk what type/size of packaging she recommended for the item I was holding. She said--'how should I know? It's not my job to tell you how to package things! " Now, there are some great exceptions--and also the closer you get to the shores, the nicer the people are. I love going to the shore.
The people that I have dealt with in PA have all just been so nice!

Hmmm...I think that's one of the post offices' requirements for hire, you have to be rude, ignorant and mean. I don't think I have EVER encountered a nice person at any post office I've been to. Which is fubby, cuz all our mailmen who actually deliver the mail have been really nice......weird......and it's worse now here since they centralized the phone number so you can't actually call your home branch to ask questions, you get sent to central customer service and those people are REAL assclowns......at least all the ones I've talked to are.
