Ok so here we go. we just got off the phone with Abby's surgeon.
Tomorrow Abby is going to have surgery. She is too young to have the test that they told us they wanted her to have. They need to remove this Gall Bladder. While they are in there they need to try and look at the ducts to see is any of the gall stones are blocking it because on the ultrasound it is all swollen. They are also going to take a biopsy of her liver to see what or if there is anything wrong with that. Which is a separate problem but will be addressed when they find the results of the biopsy.
She also needs to have an IV catheter placed in her chest to manage her pain afterwards as well as give her antibiotics and such. The IV catheter in her chest is the one that the last time grew 7 different bugs in it.
The surgery is expected to last for 4 hours and is to start sometime late morning early afternoon.
She will be moved to intensive care after the surgery due to the large incision and the high risk for infection and the tremendous amount of pain she will be in.
Our little girl is precious to so many of you. We know God has her in His care and He will be holding her all through this.
Her surgeon has done numerous surgeries on Abby and is one of the best cutters at CHOP. She even knows Greg's son Michael whom her partner worked on 5 years ago. So we have a great trust in her abilities.
