First go out and buy a load of expensive colour co-ordinated running gear.
Next sign up for a lengthy period at your local gym. Ensure the contract is iron-clad; that way, when the monthly fees are deducted for the next three years, the guilt factor will really peak.
Tell everyone your running the marathon and wear your running shoes preferebly brightly coloured ones to every social event.
When you do visit the gym - stay just long enough to break into a sweat -
then promptly "do a hammy" on the treadmill.
This entitles you to sit on your backside watching the rest of the olympics while ordering others about and regaling them with tales of your glory days as an elite athlete
