The du I'm thinking about doing is USAT sanctioned and requires that I buy at least the 1 day license. Is it just me or does $9 for one use seem a bit steep? I don't even see the benefit of having the event sanctioned by USAT. There is that "excess accident insurance," but what is that? And what does it cover? Is there any reason I should not feel like I'm being ripped off?

The total cost including USAT one day is going to be $39. I could almost run a marathon for that price. Yeesh.

Joining USAT pays for itself. You get a $25 gift certificate to Sportsbasement.com and an ongoing 10% off. So I think you break even with one race and start saving money after that.

There are a lot more biking and swimming accidents then running. Neutral
