wel after a full length weekend party for Steph's 50th, two years of kidney stones and just off my skates a lot this year, i had no expectations this year.
I wanted to do the race in under 25 mins, by far my worse time and 25 mins was my time today, 25 even, and i sprinted the last 100 yards to get that.
while I'm happy i finished, no wipe outs and nailed my time pretty well, one regret, i let one of my nemesis beat me...... (actually he's a team mate that i challenge myself against on a regular basis, he just never beat me on this course before.
The day was ideal for racing too, not much wind, lightly cloudy, maybe 70 degrees, the air was a little thick but that was it. we had a larger number than normal too i think, even my previous times would have been "slow" for this year. so glad to see the number of skaters increase.
Miss Steph took 3rd in her age, her last year in this age bracket as in the fact that Wednesday is her 50th and she's only getting better. 50+ look out next year.
next year i get to be the in the baby year of my age bracket too. OLD FARTS BEWARE!!!!
all in all, my club/team represented well, large numbers of us out there. we were all over the placements and no one seriously hurt all in all a good race.
winning time was high 17's for the 10k skate

Awesome job!
Although, if I'm going that fast, I had better be on a bike...safer for me and those around me.

I think we were near 100, this year. my overall was 61. OUCH! I've been in the top 20 (cash money) before and normally in the top 25. (winning my age group) this year was all about survival.
Thruster was there too and did a 23:40. Great i'll have to hear this ALL FRIKKIN YEAR NOW!!!
he did much better this year. WTG Junior

Wow, that is a fast time. Our local half marathon has a skate division and it always amazes me how fast the skaters go.
Glad you are over your kidney stone problems and able to have a good race!

I don't (can't) skate, but damn that must take nerves of steel to RACE on skates! You certainly don't have to prove your manhood to me (um, well, you know what I mean...)
