I guess this is harder than I thought it would be after seeing Thanksgiving (last month in Canada) from another point of view.

I guess my main dislike is the "over traditional" we (as Americans) view the whole thing. I guee the word I'm looking for is too commerchial
and stiff instead of laid back.

Plus...........

With the Exception of Wal-Mart

All the stores are closed.

I was just thinking about this last night. I remember when everything (except a couple of grocery stores) was closed on Sundays and on Christmas eve.

Then I can remember when grocery stores opened on Sundays--but due to the blue law, no booze or toys could be bought.

Now everything is open Christmas eve.

I wonder when everything will be open on T-giving and Christmas day?

More and more things are, sadly. Whataburger even makes commercials about it, sort of sentimental 'Christmas with a Whataburger' type commercials advertising that they are open on THE day.

I liked Luby's a lot except for the older gentleman who ALWAYS sat behind me and decided dinnertime was an excellent time to bring all the phlegm in his system out.

I sort of lost my taste for Lugie's (what I renamed it) after that....
