Four years of high school Spanish...never wanted to go to Spain.
Joined the Navy...went to Spain for about three years. Go figger.
English it was...and I'm not in the least surprised to see that English was selected by so few.
And I never went to England...but I kinda like the music.

Strangely enough i have a degree in English, but we're talking best subject in high school and I put forth no effort in high school.

No, we're not talking about "best" subject but "favorite" subject and there's a definite distinction between the two.
English comp allowed for some "hedge" room, whereas a math course did not. Essays allowed a little creativity but two plus two always - and only - equaled four. History kind of came between the two and I continue to enjoy all of it.
I just wish I'd been more logically inclined during high school.
