A decathlete winner, is usually crowned, world's greatest athlete upon wining the event. I think you could probably make a good argument for an Ironman finisher too. What say you. Who is The World's Greatest Athlete, an Ironman or Decathlete

I'd go with the Decathelete on this one. I love the ironmaners, but a decathelete has to be able to do so much more.
Also, if you were the general manager of a baseball, football, basketball, hockey, soccer, anything else you can think of, which athlete would you draft.... Most would probably pick a decathelete.

Really two different animals..........Ironman (OK I am bias!!) is a very long endurance, sustained effort, style event, while the decathalon although over two days is sporadic events and short bursts of energy.

Oh, sorry. I answered a different question. Umm....decathalete, because of the variety of events one must participate in...but i'm more impressed with anyone who will finish an Ironman let alone win one.

While both event are very challenging, I think I would say a decathlon.
2 days of track and field events is a lot, and to save energy for all of them is an amazing feat.
