Posted: 11/18/05 - 15:18 Post subject: Trip to the hospital - follow up
Well, before the DH got home the other night he had emailed me and said he would take my step son to the hospital for his appointment yesterday. When he got home I started feeling guilty about it (because he would have to take off work) and said I would go ahead and take him. Well, my DH didn't say "ok" and was talking about needing to set the alarm early so he could go into work early in order to take off to get Christian to the doctor. So, I assumed he was going to take him.
Around 11:30 a.m. I'm in Walmart and go to get my phone to help Joshua make his wish list for Christmas when I notice my DH has called. I check my voicemail and he was talking about being so sorry that his ex would be riding along with me to the appointment. I'm like He had never confirmed that I was going to take Christian to the hospital and now I have to drive 45 minutes to Christian's house, 20 minutes to the hospital and his doctor's appointment is at 1 p.m. (not to mention I have to buy my stuff at Walmart!).
So, long story short I ended up meeting the ex and Christian at the hospital, helped them get around the place, got Christian's appointment card (it's a military thing), his medical records, etc. It wasn't that bad of a deal but I really felt like the ex could have done all this on her own (little did we know she was even going to be there). Oh, btw, did I tell you this is only the second time EVER that I have seen her? The first time was this past Friday when we went to pick Christian up for the weekend.
Anyway, when the DH got home he brought me flowers and a beautiful gold necklace with a cherub on it. Maybe I'll have to take Christian to the doctor more often!

It all worked out for the best in the end. It's good for Christian to see you two cooperating. You are both going to be the most influential women in his life--it won't work to confuse the boy as to why you two don't get along--so it was good that you did what you did.

I have actually never had any direct contact with her until now. We have always gotten along when we talked on the phone or emailed but I see the point you are making.

Yeah, what Jacked said!
Yes, back in late July/early August they moved back to the DC metro area (Germantown, MD to be exact). They are living in the townhouse that her adult daughter (from another marriage) used to live in. Of course, she now has all the stuff that was in the townhouse...which all used to be my DH's when the two of them were married!!!
DH is still a little bitter about that!
