I try to run 6 days a week, 4 miles a day at a 6mph pace. I run in the morning before work and I run on a treadmill (which is kinda hard cause i'm on the thing for 40 mins staring at the wall...) I run outside in the evenings if it's nice, but it's been cold here so I haven't got that pleasure.

It seems everyone here runs outside... is there any that do 90% treadmill running?

Well, right now, 3 of the 4 days I run, it's on the treadmill. Get a cheap DVD player and TV. The time will pass much faster.

I do lots of running on the mill too. I can't stand TV though so I have an MP3 player to crank up some music. I've done 10-12 miles on the mill and I actually enjoy it. Embarassed

i do most of my runs on a treadmill.

ceiling fan on
floor fan on
TV on, volume off, probably cartoons Embarassed on but i keep the remote nearby
MP3 in
windows open, the treadmill is next to a window and the snow flies in in the winter, so good.

believe it or not, it's just easier for me on the treadmill. going outside requires me to carry a bleepin' cell phone and feeling that thing bounce off my back with every footfall is maddening. i'd just as soon not run. Mad

incline the treadmill on every run, never run flat.

I run a lot on an inside track in the winter. It's boring but cold induced asthma problems make running outside difficult.

I never run on the treadmill unless it's really cold out, or raining. I try to run outside as much as possible. I just prefer it. However, living in Wisconsin, where the weather sucks most of the year, I do end up doing a lot of running on the treadmill. In the summer, 1 of every 25 miles is indoors, and in the winter, at least half of my miles are indoors.

I'm one of those insane ones who has logged hundreds and a few thousand miles on a TM. No kidding. Very hard to do and you have to be disciplined to do it. I'd say I train 95% of the time on the TM or higher.

I'm currently working as much outside work that I can get in for my marathon.

The gym has tv's in between each one...I pick one under a fan...left side of the room...fourth row up...on the end. Not that I care which one I run on or anything.

I prefer outside, but am divorced with kids and have to do most of my running in the garage.

I installed Direct TV in the garage to help with the monotony.

During the week, I run alot on the treadmill because I like to get my run in first thing in the morning before work. Because it's staying dark longer in the morning and as it's getting colder, I'll be running more on the treadmill. I've read to raise the incline 1.5 to 2 to simulate outside running. Also, the treadmill is very helpful in regards to pacing. That said, I actually prefer running outside, but it's nice having the treadmill when it's too dark/cold to run outside and when I don't have access to a track. The mp3 also comes in handy on easy/long runs on the treadmill when it can get kinda monotonous and boring.

In the winter and during the heat of summer I do my afternoon runs mostly on a treadmill at LA Fitness. My weekend runs and nice weekday afternoon runs are all outside to balance the treadmill.

I have to be at work at 6am and it is simply too dark and too much opportunity for drunk drivers in my section of town to go running in the dark.

I do lots of TM running. probably at least 1/2 of my total in the last 4 years as been on the TM

I find that it is great for interval training since the TM is "objective" and keeps the same pace.

I highly recommend a fan be placed in the front to keep you cool while you run. I have run in all four seasons without a problem and the fan helps dramatically.

I think it also helps me with pacing when I am outside.

also, at least a two on the incline. It is better than running flat. it gives a little more "boost" to your run.

each year, I do more and more on the treadmill. I just had a record treadmill run this week. 24 miles. My husband freaked. But it was a choice of that or carrying my phone, water, blah... I watch tv usually because my basement has no windows. I actually miss my last house, with windows, I didn't need music or tv....I had my 'mill pointed towards the woods and once in awhile would see wildlife running around.

I prefer the 'mill for speedwork, at least the first few times to catch the "hang" of the pace, then I like to take it outdoors to see if I hold pace on my own.
