I don't see any problem. In fact, I find trail shoes pretty comfy on the roads. That extra tread adds some cushion. The only drawback I could think of is they're typically a little heavier, sometimes waterproof and usually a dark color, so they could feel hot as summer comes on and you're out in the blazing sun with them.
