Well this morning I had my second race ever. It was really cold for Boca Raton FL at the start of the race (43F). I actually got one of the guys from ym office to run this race too. I was going to try to work on my pace more so I didnt kill myself the first mile like I did last race. Well that didnt happen. Last race my first mile was a 7:30 this race first mile was a 7:38. Second mile split was 15:50. Finish time was 25:20. Last race I ran a 26:11 so I took almost a full minute off my time in about a month and the last week I havent really been running. I am almost down to my goal of a 24 flat for a 5K. Now to start increasing the mileage to get ready for my 10 miler in october. With my times in a 5K now any guesses on what I should expect or shoot for as a goal in a 10 miler in October?

I was gonna run that but was still a little sore from Miami and opted out. Forget a little cold. It is freezing out there.
Great run...
I ran the whole race last year right behind Alberto Salazar. I think it was the highlight of my running career. He was dollng out advice to runners as he was running.
How as the turn out? I was supposed to get a booth at the expo, but decided against it at the last minute.
We should run together sometime.

There were about 400-500 people at the race. My office had a booth setup in the mall for the weekend as well.

Nice racin'! Gotta love shaving off a minute in a month. If I had to give you a goal pace for a 10-miler in October, I'd say it's not unreasonable to take that 8:00-ish pace you have right now and put that out there as a possibility. You've got a long spring, summer and autumn to get in peak shape. With some big mileage bumps and continuing on the improvement curve you started already, I don't see why a 1:20, 10-miler would be out of the picture.

Those are the results from last year. These are the results from this year.

By the way my goal for the 10milers I am thinking right now would be 1.5 hours. So if I run it ten minutes faster I would be quite happy.
