Right, no blizzard (did anyone say there had been?). It's just that the temp plummeted, it was snowing, and the wind did quite a lot of damage. Trees across roads, falling on houses, that kind of stuff.
When I lived in TX we called that kind of fast temperature drop a blue norther. It meant get the cows and plants in ASAP, Mother Ugly's come to town.
