When would you "let go with the flow" while racing?
Nevah - no way, no how, no chance: that's GROSS!

Only if it would make the difference between a BQ and a non-BQ.

If it meant a PR, sure, I'd wet myself.

If I had on clothes where you couldn't tell, why not?

What a silly question: I pee on myself during training; why not while racing?

I was debating this disgusting topic with my 20YO SIL this weekend. I was wondering what y'all think.

I don't think I could literally just let myself go and continue running. That's just one step too far beyond peeing behind a tree or something.

I had that experience once in high school XC during my 1st race. I tried my best to hold it in and boy did that suck...

I have one of those "sneeze and pee" bladders, so I've actually done this on a timed mile before. Not that I said, "Oh Whatevah"..it just happened.

I once wet myself during a kickboxing demo my karate school was putting on.

In the middle of the street.
In front of a whole crowd of people.

agreed. I am the master at 'behind the tree peeing' now there is something to brag about Embarassed but pee ON myself? no. I don't think I'll ever care THAT much. Lets be real.

I'm going to need to know who of you is voting yes....I'd like to understand...

There's always a tree somewhere near.

It's not worth the 15-20 seconds.

However...If it was a Boston Qualifying run...and I was close...and there were only a few miles to go...

Let it flow, baby...let it flow.

Interesting ... you've timed it. Wink But for wimmins it's significantly longer, and let's face it, we ladies need more privacy than you dudes. On average we're talking 60-90 seconds. Not a significant factor in a marathon, but that kind of time is costly in a half or a 10M race.

Hmmm, good question. I'm a master of peeing anywhere even if there isn't a tree to hide behind. Now if it came down to a BQ and I knew 20 seconds would cost me and I really had to go I'm not sure if I could. If it were raining I probably could. I sure hope I never have such a close call that I have to find out.

Ooh, thats a good point too, forget the nasty factor, then there's the whole 'pee-shy' thing. Mark my words, this will never happen to me on purpose, partly because I'll never be fast enough for it to come down to seconds...

First of all, what's a BQ?

I would not pee on myself unless there was an all out win in a decent sized race at stake. I try to make my races as quickly as possible so I never have this situation.

In high school there was a running prodigy that crapped her shorts to finish 1st at district. That's dedication... or insanity.

Privacy, and a number of municipal codes.
