Posted: 06/15/04 - 15:56 Post subject: Tires
So the tires on my road bike are approaching 1000 miles. I want to put new tires on my road bike in late August just before I begin a series of triathlons.
If you wanted something light, and money wasn't really an impediment, what would you buy? Currently I am on a set of Vittoria Rubinos, and I so far they have been perfect (read almost 1000 miles and no flat--which I just ruined by simply admitting that outloud). But when I look at Nashbar or Performance Bike I see many, many choices and I am very limited with knowledge.
So...what would you suggest?
(PS--saving the wheel upgrades for next season)

Tires probably only come in second to saddles on number of opinions. RoadBikeReview.com has tire reviews. I would go with what you have if you like them.

Just hypothetically speaking....how often would one change one's tires if one was into that sort of thing?
I'm going to sell my bike and find a sport that I don't have to have a separate additional hobby of 'maintenance'.

When they wear out. I've had tires that were showing their inner workings early on and needed to be changed, but the Hutchinson Carbon Comps have held up like champs.
