At what pressure do you run your road bike tires? The max rating on mine is 130 psi, and I just bought a pump with a guage on it. The guage doesn't seem to be reading correctly though, and 80 psi according to the guage seems to be about what feels correctly, judging from how the shop fills the tires. Any ideas as far as how I can check the pressure to see if the guage is correct? Does 80 psi seem too low?

I use 110. Allow some room for it to heat up. 80 is low and will probably result in more flats.

120 psi and I refill my tires every other day.

You can pick up a digital tire guage at Wal-Mart for relatively cheap. The pencil-type usually won't go up high enough for bike tires.

Consider Weather. A tad lower if it's wet or hot. A tad higher if it's dry and cool. Remember, consider the temp/conditions not inside your nice comfy house/hotel but on Da Road.

Also, if you're a bigger person, go on the higher end. It will help reduce resistance. However, beware those potholes!

Too low, however, will get you more flats.

There was a good article in June(?) 2004 Triathelte about pressure and how to exactly compute it. I can find it if you want. Let me know.

I run my road bike about 110psi and the sidewalls say 120psi max.

My commuter says 60psi max, but I typically run it about 70psi.
