it appears that it's a rough day for a lot of folks around here. So here's something encouraging, or at least positive.
My daughter, Stormie, was accepted at Indiana University of Pennsylvania a few weeks ago. Today, she is auditioning on her French Horn, for acceptance into the music education program.
I have taken the day off to go with her. There's a parents' meeting around 1pm, followed by the actual audition. a student teacher from IUP has been giving Stormie lessons in preparation for the audition. He says that she is already playing at a level beyond some of the students in IUP's program.

On a tangent, I recently read* about bias against women in the orchestra - specfically on the french horn. The solution apparently has been blind auditions. What say you about that?

WOO HOO!!! That's great! IUP's music program is really solid. A couple of my friends from high school went there and I've heard nothing but positives about the resources and teachers. Congrats to Stormie!!!

She felt really good about the audition, and said one of the prof's will email her over the weekend about the results!
TreKay, Stormie Gail is her given name.
the boys are: Sterling Corby, and Sawyer Corbin.

Updating this to say that Stormie passed the Audition! She's In! one of the professors who sat in on her audition emailed her to inform her of their decision. I knew, of course, that there would be no question.
